Time for the weekly covid update. Nothing earth-shakingly new happened this week, except that the growth rate for the Delta wave continued slowing. The number of cases rose 3% last week. If you take every week since July 8th, the weekly growth rates, from then to now, have been 70%, 58%, 52%, 39%, 20%, 12%, and finally 3%.
In other words, a declining growth rate every single week has caused the growth rate to drop almost all the way to zero in just seven weeks. The Delta Wave is burning out.
That's all for this week. There's other statistics, but they won't teach you anything new -- everything is continuing to move in basically the same directions it was last week, and the growth rate just keeps dropping like a stone. If the pattern holds up, we would expect the number of cases to start dropping at some point during the next week.
