For about the seventh week in a row, the news on Covid is improving. Cases have dropped to 72,000 per day this week from 84,000 per day last week. Deaths are down from 1306 to 1257. Daily hospital admissions with Covid ran about 5,796 per day, down from 6,457 last week.

Over 96% of people above 65 have received at least one shot, and about four to five million shots per week are still being given. Between one and two million of those are people receiving their first shot.

(Numbers from the CDC Covid Tracker website).
