Today, the United States reported 22,548 cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 42,423 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). Today's number is the lowest reported in nearly three months, but the one asterisk we have to put over the day is about how we're just coming off a three-day holiday weekend, when numbers can be a bit wonky.
We reported 362 deaths today, down from 1022 a week ago, but again, Labor Day weekend.
We'll have to wait and see if this excellent news holds up very well as the week progresses and people catch up on paperwork. The usual graphs are attached.
