Today, the US reported 44,636 cases of the novel coronavirus, about equal to the 44,328 reported a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). If you watch the seven-day rolling average, which smooths things out a bit, there's been very little movement in cases over the last twelve days -- some days up, some days down, not much of a trend to speak of. The numbers are bouncing around weirdly, as they've been for a few days now.
When it comes to deaths, we reported 915 today, down from 1014 a week ago. If you follow the seven-day rolling average, that's dropped by about 9%.
Since the case numbers have been weird the last few days, it's worth taking a look at positivity rates for testing and at hospitalizations. Both are down about 7-8% over the last week, so that's good news.
The usual graphs are attached.
