This was originally a Facebook post of mine from 2020-9-2, and is archived here as a curiosity. Minor changes to formatting, as well as basic copy-edits, may have been made in the transition from Facebook post to web format.

Today, the United States reported 30,409 cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 43,130 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). That's an unusually good day; you can sort of see how it creates a weird little downward jump on the seven-day average graph below. One day is never the whole story, but I'll take it.

We reported 1021 new deaths today, down from 1249 a week ago.
