Today, the United States reported 51,825 new cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 66,211 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project).
Today we reported 1401 deaths, up from 1059 a week ago.
It is possible that the Hurricane is causing some testing not to occur, or causing some testing not to be reported in a timely fashion. I don't know. However, the most recent decline in cases began before the Hurricane, so at the very least we can say that the last few days haven't shown any clear evidence that cases are rising again.
We'll likely know more after the Hurricane has passed and we have a week or so to return to normal. Also, over the next week or so we should also have a chance to see if we're about at the peak level of deaths, prior to the decline in deaths that Youyang Gu thinks is coming.
The usual graphs are attached.
