Today, the United States reported 38,234 cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 43,083 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). This nicely continues about a month of dropping cases.
We've reported 572 new deaths today, down from 619 a week ago. If you follow the seven-day rolling average number of daily deaths, here's the last eight days: 1068, 1061, 1046, 1035, 1029, 1015, 987, 981. So it looks like we're seeing a week of steady movement in the right direction on deaths, too.
The hospitalizations are moving in the right direction too. Rounded to the nearest thousand, here's the number of coronavirus patients currently reported as hospitalized according to the Covid Tracking Project for the last six days: 44k, 43k, 42k, 41k, 40k, 39k. Over the last thirty-one days, we've seen the number of people reported to be in the hospital decline from 60k to 39k.
The usual graphs are attached.
