Today, the United States reported 41,807 new cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 49,561 a week ago, down from 55,134 a week before that, down from 57,948 a week before that, down from 58,357 a week before that (Covid Tracking Project). So that's an encouraging day along an encouraging trend.
We reported 427 deaths today, down from 519 a week ago, down from 558 a week before that. Now that is a nice string of Mondays, but overall deaths have basically been about flat overall the last twelve days. Still, that's better than the rise we were seeing before.
So all in all, a good day. Things are looking up. Hopefully whatever happens with the schools doesn't interfere with this trend towards getting things under control.
The usual graphs are attached.
