Today, the United States reported 53,507 new cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 62,749 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). If you follow the seven-day averages, it's kind of looking like that week or two of plateau is curving into a downturn. Of course, it ain't over till it's over, but that's what the graph looks like at the moment.
The deaths data is not so cheerful. We reported 1121 deaths today, up from 1029 a week ago. But if cases keep dropping, deaths will follow eventually. Time will tell.
The usual graphs are attached.
