Today, the United States reported 61,713 new cases of the novel coronavirus, down from 63,907 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). We've now had nine days without a new record-breaking day, so we're starting to get a pretty decent stretch going where things don't seem to be getting rapidly worse. They're not necessarily getting obviously better at this point, but it beats the month before the plateau, where it just got worse and worse steadily.

However, we reported 558 deaths today, up from 523 a week ago. And if you look at the graph of US deaths calculated as a rolling seven-day average, they've been going up pretty steadily for about three weeks now.

The usual graphs are attached.
