Today the US reported 66,645 cases of the novel coronavirus, up from 57,562 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). This is the highest number we've ever had in a day.
The US reported 854 deaths today, up from 661 a week ago. This is now the fourth day in a row where that seven-day average has been moving upward.
