Today the US reported 44,358 cases of the novel coronavirus, up from 32,984 a week ago (Covid Tracking Project). Over the last seven days, we've had 288,620 new cases, the highest ever reported in a seven-day period.
We had 575 deaths reported today, down from 775 a week ago.
