For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.
In Hebrew, the word elohim is used for both "God" and "gods." Grammatically speaking, the phrase kelohim could be translated either as "like God" or "like gods." I'm translating it as "like gods" because of Genesis 3:22 --
And Yahweh God said, See, the human has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, and now, least he put out his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever ...
Also, for what it's worth, the Septuagint here reads 'like gods'.
