(BA) Genesis 4:19
...

2 August 2022 Navigate 'up to the Genesis index: index-genesis.

And Lamek took himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

In the Hebrew Bible, polygamy tends to accompany conflict. True to type, in this story practically all we know about Lamek, other than his children's names and occupations, is that he had two wives and boasted about how violent he was.

Regardless of the likelihood that this  Lamek son of Methushael has its origins in the same character as Genesis 5's Lamek son of Methushelah, as Genesis now stands they are distant cousins. Both come near the end of a list of father-son pairs, and both, unlike previous members of the list, have something to say.
