And to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begot Mehuyael, and Mehiyael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamek.
This follows the Masoretic Text. The Hebrew w and y look very similar, and can be used to represent the vowels u and i, respectively, so a typo one way or the other is easy to imagine -- similar typos are common in the Hebrew Bible. So, originally, what was it?
The ba-septuagint indicates a reading of Mehiyael in both instances, while the Vulgate indicates a reading of Mehuyael in both instances. It is entirely possible that either or both of these two traditions reflect not the original text, whatever that may have been, but simply attempts to "clean up" the discrepancy in proto-Masoretic Texts.
The Qumran Scrolls are no help here, as they do not contain any copies of this verse.
