2. he did as Joseph had said. Hebrew wayyaʿaś kidᵉbar yosef ʾašer dibber, which ASV and WEB read as “he did according to the word which Joseph had spoken”. This latter reading suffers from two problems, firstly that the construction “according to” is outdated, and secondly that a dabar is not a “word” but “something said”. Given that English has no perfect equivalent for dabar, it seems to me that a slightly less than word-for-word rendering is in order.

3. At daybreak. Hebrew habboqer ʾor. Literally, “the morning shone, and”. WEB and ASV read “As soon as the morning was light”.

10. the rest of you. Hebrew ʾatem. Unlike English, Hebrew distinguishes between singular and plural “you”. In this case, it is in the plural, perhaps making it easier in Hebrew than in English for the reader to immediately and unambiguously see that it is the whole group of remaining brothers who will be held blameless.
