And Moses answered and said, But behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, Yahweh has not appeared to you.
And Yahweh said to him, What is that in your hand?
And he said, A rod.
And he said, Throw it on the ground. And he threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it.
And Yahweh said to Moses, Stretch out your hand, take it by the tail – and he stretched out his hand, and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand – 5 so that they may believe that Yahweh, the god of their fathers, the god of Abraham, the god of Isaac, and the god of Jacob, has appeared to you.
And Yahweh said furthermore to him, Now put your hand into your bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom; and when he took it out, there was his hand, leprous, as white as snow.
And he said, Put your hand into your bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh.
And if they will not believe you or listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the next sign. 9 And if they will not believe even these two signs, nor listen to your voice, you shall take some water from the river, and pour it on the dry land. And the water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.
And Moses said to Yahweh, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
And Yahweh said to him, Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.
And he said, O Lord, please send by the hand of whom you will send.
And Yahweh’s anger burned against Moses, and he said, Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know he can speak well. And also, behold, he is coming out to meet you; and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. 15 And you shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do. 16 And he will be your spokesman to the people, and he will be like a mouth to you, and you will be like God to him. 17 And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you will do the signs.
And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive.
And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
And Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, Go return to Egypt, because all the men who sought your life are dead.
