Yehud is the name of the Persian province that succeeded the Kingdom of Judah after the Babylonian captivity. This time period was formative for Second Temple Judaism and later Judaisms. In the Hebrew Bible, the book of Ezra-Nehemiah provides an origin story for the Jewish community organized around the Second Temple.
