When speaking about the Hebrew Bible, the term Torah refers to the Pentateuch. However, it can also be used to refer to Jewish law in general, all of which is in theory traceable back to the Pentateuch and its accompanying oral traditions. Within the Hebrew Bible, the term torah is used for 'instruction' or 'law'. To avoid this sort of ambiguity, I tend to use the term "Pentateuch" when I want to refer to the Pentateuch.
