Second Temple Judaism refers to the Judaisms practiced from the building of the Second Temple around the close of the Babylonian exile to the destruction of the temple in 70 CE. Second Temple Judaism included a variety of beliefs and sects, and should not be confused with later varieties of Judaism, although of course it shares much with them.
In biblical studies, an issue still debated is just how much of the Hebrew Bible dates to the Second Temple period, and how much was written earlier.
