Richard Elliot Friedman is a major figure in biblical studies. Of particular interest to this website is his Who Wrote the Bible?, which gives his views on the composition and authorship of the Primary History. I frequently make reference to the tables in the back of the book that illustrate which passages he attributes to J, E, P, and D. I'll often refer to him without reference to anyone else because, among those scholars who still hold to the Documentary Hypothesis, the questions of which passage are to be attributed to which sources are pretty well agreed on, with the occasional tricky passage here and there generating disagreement. Where I am aware of any such disagreement, of course, I do intend to let you know.
