Qof is a letter in the Hebrew alphabet, conventionally translated as q. However, it does not have the relationship with "u" that the Engish "q" has. In Modern Israeli Hebrew, it is pronounced "k", just like a hard kaf. However, the original pronounciation was distinct, as q was pronounced further back than k.
