This page was migrated in July 2022 from my older website, biblicalambiguities.net. As such, it is subject to the biblicalambiguities-general-disclaimer and the biblicalambiguities-general-disclaimer.
The term Protestant refers to persons associated with the Protestant Reformation which began around 1517, and to their successors. When these various persons and churches are spoken of as a group, their movement is known as Protestantism. Protestantism and Catholicism, taken together, make up Western Christianity.
The article on the Protestant Reformation, linked above, is complete enough that to expand this article much would likely introduce redundancies.
