The Plymouth Brethren are a movement within conservative Protestantism founded by John Nelson Darby. Although most conservative Protestants are not Plymouth Brethren, and indeed many have never heard of the Brethren or Darby, his influence lives on through dispensationalism and teachings about what is commonly called the rapture.
The Brethren, whether they accept the term "Plymouth Brethren" or not, currently continue to exist in various confusing schisms that are hard for an outsider to interpret.
