The NRSV, or New Revised Standard Version of the Bible, could probably be fairly called the leading ecumenical or scholarly translation of the Christian Bible. It enjoys a position in academia second to no other translation, unless perhaps the NRSV-UE is being counted as another translation.
The NRSV, proper, came out in 1989, and in 2021 an updated edition, under the name NRSV-UE (for Updated Edition) appeared. I don't yet (as of September 2022) have a clear picture of what all has changed in it, and whether that change has been mostly for the better.
The NRSV is a revision of the RSV, which went through several stages of revision and translation from the 1940's to the 1970's.
