mqnh, vocalized miqne, is a term that refers to livestock or possessions.
It is often translated as cattle, but given the meaning the term now, at least in the United States this is too specific. It does not refer specifically to bovines, but rather to a broader set of what BDB calls "purchasable domestic animals". In the broader sense, miqne can refer to "cows, sheep, horses, asses, camels (any or all of them)" (BDB). More specifically, the term can also refer to "cows, sheep, and goats in herds and flocks" (BDB).
But not all examples of miqne can be explained as referring to livestock. For example, in Genesis 23:18, Abraham becomes the owner of a field as a miqne, which BDB glosses as "possession (gained by purchase)". This interpretation is confirmed by Jeremiah 32:11, in which the purchase of a field is documented in a sefer hammiqne, a "record of the purchase". In Leviticus 25:16 miqne is used for a "purchase price".
