And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. 2 The fear of you and the dread of you will be upon all the beasts of the earth and upon all the birds of the sky. With all things that crawl upon the ground and with all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. 3 Every crawling thing that lives will be yours for food. Just as the green herb, I have given you them all. 4 Yet do not eat the flesh with its life, its blood. 5 And surely for the blood of your lives I will require [vengeance]; from the hand of any animal I will require it; and from the hand of humanity, from the hand of each one's brother I will require the life of a human.
6 The shedder of human blood, by humankind his blood shall be shed. For in God's image he made humanity. 7 And you, be fruitful and multiply, swarm in the earth and multiply in it.
8 And God said to Noah and his sons with him, 9 Now behold, I establish my covenant with you and your seed after you, 10 and all living beings that are with you, of birds, livestock, and wild animals with you, of all that go out of the ark, of all wild animals. 11 And I have established my covenant with you, and never again will I cut off all flesh with the waters of the deluge, and never again will there be a deluge to ruin the earth.
12 And God said, This is the sign of the covenant which I set between me and you and all living beings with you through endless generations. 13 My bow I set in the cloud, to be a sign of the covenant between me and all the earth. 14 And then, when I bring clouds over the earth, the bow will appear in the clouds. 15 And I will remember my covenant between me and you and every living thing of all flesh. No more will the waters become a deluge to ruin all flesh. And the bow will be in the clouds, 16 and I will see it to remember my eternal covenant between God and all living beings of all flesh upon the earth.
17 And God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh which is upon the earth.
18 And these are the sons of Noah who went out from the ark: Shem, and Ham, and Japheth. And Ham was the father of Canaan. 19 These three were the sons of Noah, and of these the earth was overspread. 20 And Noah, a farmer, became the first to plant a vineyard. 21 And he drank the wine, and was drunk, and was naked in his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness, and told his two brothers outside. 23 And Shem and Japheth took the garment and put it on their both their shoulders, and walked backward, and covered their father's nakedness, and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness. 24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his youngest son had done to him 25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan! A slave of slaves will he be to his brothers.
And he said,
Blessed be Yahweh, god of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave. 27 May God enlarge Japheth. May he dwell in the tents of Shem; and may Canaan be his slave.
28 And Noah lived after the deluge three hundred fifty years. 29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred fifty years, and he died.
