6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the water, and let it divide water from water. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so.

And it was so is out of place. The usage throughout the rest of the story suggests that it should be at the end of verse 6, not 7. And, in point of fact, the Septuagint has it at the end of verse 6, not 7.

Where verse 7 has And it was so, Hebrew wayehi ken, Eberhard Schrader (says Dillmann) suggests that it originally read And God saw that it was good. Schrader's opinion is followed by Kittel, though Dillmann does not approve of it.
