Esther is a book in the Hebrew Bible about a Jewish woman who becomes queen of the Persian Empire and, in the process, saves the Jews from destruction. It is anonymously written and a transparently fictional tale.
There are significant differences between the Masoretic and Septuagint versions of Esther. See Additions to Esther.
