The Christian Standard Bible is an unfortunately named product of the Southern Baptist Convention, produced in 2016 as an update of the 2004 Holman Christian Standard Bible. It is by no means the standard Bible of Christians, but is instead specifically the product of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). But it isn't even the standard Bible of the SBC, where various Bibles are used.

While its predecessor used "Yahweh" where the Old Testament had "Yahweh", the CSB has reverted to the old practice of substituting "the Lord" for the name. It also made news through its shift towards more gender-inclusive language, perhaps a surprising move for the Southern Baptist Convention, which had previously gotten hot and bothered about just this issue in 2011.

The link above, on the words "hot and bothered", shows, interestingly enough, a request by the SBC that LifeWay stop selling 2011 NIV's. However, as of 2012, LifeWay was thumbing its nose at the SBC, which is interesting given that LifeWay is a publishing arm of the SBC. As of 2020, the culture wars continue in the SBC.
