The American Bible Society is an organization dedicated to "Making the Bible available to every person in a language and format each can understand and afford, so all people may experience its life-changing message." They are a conservative Protestant organization with a strongly missionary orientation. Their belief that all people should have access to the Bible in a form they can understand has motivated their production of the Good News Bible and the Contemporary English Version.
